One of the most important models that I use in my holistic lifestyle coaching and ultimately every program i work with putting together with clients, is Paul Chek's four doctors, (the last doctors you’ll ever need). The concept is that you need to consult with them to get things right and get your health optimised.

Dr. Happiness
The doctor who guides you to a healthy space through contemplation and planning about why you exist—to establish what your goals, dreams, and legacy really are. This information is actually important to the other three doctors. So, once you know what Dr. Happiness has to tell you, you can really create an effective health plan with Dr. Diet, Dr. Quiet, and Dr. Movement. What is your happiness? what drives you?

Dr. Diet
We are what we eat. Proper nutrition is extremely important. You’ve got to find out your metabolic type and how your nervous system’s blueprint is designed so you can fuel it correctly. For example, if you’re putting diesel into a petrol car, it’s not going to operate. It’s the same with us. Some of us run on CNG; some of us run on diesel; some of us are running on petrol, etc. As such, we want to find out the ideal fuel type for us and feed that to ourselves in the right percentage and combination of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
Furthermore, when we eat is another issue. We’re not just what we eat, we are also when we eat. We need to take that knowledge and apply it by eating at the right times, eating in the right way with the right food, and consuming the right liquids to stay hydrated. It’s vital for top performance. Using proven methods, I help you find out what works for you.

Dr. Movement
First and foremost, you need to be aware of the current situation of your body, i.e. what muscles are tight, what muscles are loose, etc. Then, begin an exercise regime that is designed to bring those muscles into positive balance. Your nervous system, skeletal system, and muscular system need to be strengthened in a specific way that’s tailored to you. There’s no health program that fits everyone. Everyone is unique. Everyone has a different history. Therefore, their body reflects that uniqueness, and there is a bespoke need and design applied to each person.
There’s no health program that fits everyone. Everyone is unique.

Dr. Quiet
The least understood of the four doctors is Dr. Quiet. I’m going to spend more time with this doctor, because it doesn’t get enough attention. People don’t know how to deal with Dr. Quiet because, if we trace this problem back to its cause, we can see people don’t have a clear idea what their goals, dreams, and legacy are and how to get there. Figuratively speaking, most people generate the burning desire to, let’s say, run a marathon, join an iron man contest, or climb a mountain. Unfortunately, they tend to just go and start climbing. They just climb and climb until they run out of energy and fall asleep. Guess what? They are going to die when they fall off the mountain. If you run until you can’t run anymore, you’re going to get injured or not come out of it very well. The point is whenever you have a dream, ambition, goal, or legacy you want to leave behind, it’s essential also to be aware and understand how to manage yourself to achieve that end result. That’s where Dr. Quiet comes in.
Dr. Quiet is often overlooked, unlike the other doctors—especially Dr. Movement and Dr. Diet, who receive a bit more attention, i.e. we decide to go to the gym and create New Year’s resolutions, like cutting out sugar or following a special diet.
On a daily basis, have downtime and take a little sabbatical to slow down and become still.
How do we effectively deal with Dr. Quiet? Practice being silent. On a daily basis, have downtime and take a little sabbatical to slow down and become still. That means not reading a book, not listening to any music, but instead being out in nature and listening to the sounds, or sitting still, being present and focusing on your breathing. Meditating or just being quiet on a regular basis allows your nervous system to come into balance. In turn, your consciousness comes into balance, which will support Dr. Happiness in really kicking in. When you’re able to be present and take the time to be in the now, you experience within yourself joy, happiness, and fulfilment. Positive emotions arise from within when you take the time to be quiet and still.
A little disclaimer here: this does not happen immediately, but over time. The deeper we become present, the more happiness and joy starts to prevail in our consciousness. I look forward to working with you and helping you discover the four doctors in your life. :)
